Day 1: Kigali city tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your safari starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali Airport by our expert safari driver. Depending on the time, you might go on a Kigali city tour or drive directly to Volcanoes National Park. During the Kigali city tour, you will go visit the Genocide Memorial site, Inema Arts Centre, Kigali local market, among others. Have lunch in Kigali. Afterward, continue to Volcanoes National Park with spectacular views of the countryside, rolling hills, and scenic nature. Upon arrival, you will check in to the lodge, relax, have dinner, and stay overnight at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Depart to Kigali
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. At 8:00 am, you will start to hike into the forest trails with the lead of the park ranger guide in search of a gorilla family. The trek takes between 2 and 5 hours to meet the gentle giants in their natural habitat. Upon finding the gorilla family, you will be given an hour to spend with them, learning about their behaviours and habits as well as taking memorable photos. Afterward, trek back to the meeting point to meet your driver -guide and drives you back to the lodge for lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay as above.
