This 4 Day Uganda-Rwanda Gorilla Safari is an ultimate gorilla safari tour package that leads you through gorilla trekking in both Rwanda and Uganda. In Rwanda, gorilla trekking is done in Volcanoes National Park, which is located in the northwestern part of Rwanda, in the Musanze district, approximately a 3-hour drive. It is home to endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, among other species. In Uganda, gorilla trekking is conducted in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the southwestern Uganda region, approximately an 8- to 9-hour drive from Kigali or Entebbe, and starting from Kigali via the Cyanika border takes about a 4- to 5-hour drive. Bwindi National Park is renowned as home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas that still survive in the wild. This trip also includes cultural tours to the Batwa community and a city tour in Kigali. The trip starts and ends in Kigali.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Kigali City Tour
On arrival at the airport, our safari driver will welcome you into the land of a thousand hills and brief you about the safari. Then, embark on the Kigali city tour, depending on the time of arrival. During the city tour, you will visit the Kigali genocide site and learn the history behind it, which happened in 1994, Inema Art Centre, local market many more. Have lunch in Kigali city. Then, proceed to Volcanoes National Park with beautiful views of the countryside, rolling hills, and the nature trail. Upon arrival at the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge – Mid-range Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Transfer to Bwindi National Park
After a morning breakfast, carry your packed lunch at the lodge and be driven to Kinigi Park headquarters to attend a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. After the briefing, you will meet the park ranger to allocate you to your assigned gorilla family in groups of 8 individuals. The trek can last about 2 to 7 hours, depending on their movements. Once the gorilla family is found, you will be allowed an hour to spend with them, watching their habits, grooming themselves, and playing, as well as capturing videos. After an hour gorilla encounter, trek back to the starting point to meet up with your driver–guide to start the journey to Bwindi National Park, passing through the Cyanika border to enter Uganda. You will drive via Kisoro or Kibale to access Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arriving late evening, check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ichumbi Safari Lodge – Mid-range/Mahogany Springs Lodge – Luxury
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Wake up, enjoy an early breakfast, and carry your packed lunch boxes at the lodge. Then.be transferred to the park headquarters for a short briefing about gorilla trekking rules. After the briefing, you will be escorted by the park ranger through the canopy forest to search for the gorilla family. Once finding the gorilla family, you will be given one hour to observe them play, behave, feed, among others. Afterward, trek back to the starting point to meet your driver-guide and connect you to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay as above.
Day 4: Depart to Kigali, Rwanda
After enjoying a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven out of the park and depart back to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will have lunch. After having lunch, you will be dropped off at any place of your choice. End of the Safari.
